I just got back from Zumba, which I started taking last week. It's like this...
Pretty much exactly like that. While being incredibly cheesy at times, it's actually really fun and quite the workout. It burns something like 400 calories an hour. I tried to find a video of my instructor because after the second week I'm quite convinced she's on uppers. A lot of "HA!" (like the karate chop sound effect) and smiling. She does try to get us to yell, but I'm not having any of that. And whenever a new song comes on I swear it's always her favorite song, especially if it's Shakira. And if it's that She-Wolf song, we do wolf rawrr hands and everything. It's amazing. Oh, and apparently she was in the top 25 for two years at national salsa competition. This crazy town! My random university experimental college dance/fitness instructors are always waaaay overqualified.
And on Tuesdays, it's Tai Chi...
After two weeks we've learned the first 30 seconds of the series shown in that video. The instructor (who has been studying Tai Chi for 30 years) said it took her a full year to get that far. It's very detailed. (Oh, p.s., there's no reason to watch more than 30 seconds of any of these videos unless you're SUPER bored).
And then on Saturdays, it's Pilates...
With less new-agey music and more talking about movies and hangovers. And no, I don't do pilates in a communist country. I don't know what's up with that either.
Anyway, I've got a lot of time on my hands to work up a sweat. Especially when you add in walking/jogging with Bubba. There's only so much working and reading and movie watching and internet surfing and dining and drinking a person can do in a week. Goodbye relationship obsession, I'm transferring you to fitness! That's healthy, right?

I was worried about you after yesterday's! I'm setting Bubba up on a dog date. They would be freakin awesome together.
I really hope I can see some of those Zumba moves sometime soon.
Is that really what Pilates is like? I had no idea. I thought it was sit ups and stuff!
Getting a dog, you have no choice but to be more active. They don't care if it's 3 below zero, they still sit and watch you until you take them out for a walk. I think it's great you're being active!
shakira *sigh*
i had lots of thoughts on this post and you distracted me with shakira
